Ingegerd Råman is one of Swedish design's leading figures. Simplicity is the key word for her design. Low-key, but spotless, she makes objects that she likes. These are utensils that revolve around the food, the drink and the set table. She wants to refine and focus, but still retain a feeling of desire and beauty in the object - otherwise simplicity and refinement will be a pitfall. "A jar with a lid is a jar with a lid. But there must be warmth, thought, idea and poetry behind it," Ingegerd explains. She says, "during one of my travels in Japan, I learned that every season is represented by a material - where the glass is summer's. Ingegerd has traveled and studied abroad. Her education includes schools in England, Italy and Sweden. After a thorough education she became a designer at Johansfors glassworks in 1968. In 1972 she opened her own ceramics workshop and thus focused on that part of her education. and creativity related to ceramics.In the 1980s she became a designer at Skruf's glassworks where she created a number of award-winning objects.In 1999 Ingegerd was employed as a designer at Orrefors where she designs success after success.
